The Aseptic Packaging Machine
Aseptic packaging machines generally fall into three different types, depending on the method of filling and handling of the containers. These include the following:
- Form-fill-seal machines. These can be subdivided into three types. These are
- Machines loaded with the packaging material in the form of a roll-stock (Fig. 3). In this system, the material is a film with thickness <127 μm (<5 mil). This equipment unwinds the material, sterilizes and dries it, forms it into a pouch, fills it with the sterile food product, then seals it within the sterile zone of the machine before conveying it for bulk packaging and transport into retail trade. In some cases, the roll-stock could be a laminated composite material (such as the one used to make Tetra Pak™ brick-type packages), and the machine similarly forms, fills and seals the container as described for the pouches above.
- This machine uses roll-stock of polymeric sheets (>127 μm in thickness). In this system, the material is sterilized, heated, and thermoformed into the shape of a cup, bowl or tray, then filled and sealed within the sterile zone before bulk packaging.
The third machine type forms the package by blow molding, filling and sealing. This type of machine works in combination with an extruder that converts polymeric resin into molten plastic that is blow molded by the packaging machine into bottles or ampoules, filling them with the product, then sealing them within the sterile zone of the equipment.
2.Filling and sealing machines.
These types of machines process containers that are already fabricated. The aseptic equipment is designed to sterilize the package and its closure, then fills it with the sterile product followed by sealing within the sterile zone of the machine. Examples of packaging types filled by these machines include metal and composite cans, glass and plastic bottles and jars, and preformed plastic trays and bowls.

Packaging types sterilized, filled and sealed by these machines include kegs, drums, totes, bags, bag-in-box, and tanks that can be transported by trucks or trains .

What is aseptic?
You may have heard the word aseptic many times in the food industry. Aseptic is one of the production processes in the food industry and is a process method for pre-sterilized liquid products (especially food or medicine). The aseptic process can provide the ability for a stable product that does not require refrigeration. Aseptic knowledge is one of the important technologies in pharmaceutical, food and health industry. Being aware of all the details and conditions that an aseptic product must have in food exports is an important principle that food exporters must keep in mind.
Aseptic packaging process
The aseptic process consists of three primary steps: heat sterilization of the product, sterilization of the packaging and preservation of sterilization during packaging. To ensure the sterilization process, the aseptic process must preserve and maintain all the characteristics of the product, and it is necessary to maintain these items in production.
