1 can (6 oz.) Contadina® Tomato Paste, about 2/3 cup
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
1 tsp. dried basil, crushed
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
VARIATION: To make Parmesan Pizza Sauce, prepare recipe as directed, except stir in 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
TIP: To develop a richer, sweet tomato flavor, heat 1 Tbsp. olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add tomato paste and cook, stirring constantly, about 1 to 2 minutes, until pastebrowns slightly. Remove from heat and use paste as directed in the recipe.
NOTE: Recipe can be doubled using a 12 oz. can of tomato paste or two 6 oz. cans.
