Ingredients
Start by using 1 can (6 oz.) of Contadina® Tomato Paste, which equals about 2/3 cup.
Then, add 1/2 cup of water to adjust the consistency.
After that, for added flavor, include 1 teaspoon of crushed dried oregano as well as 1 teaspoon of crushed dried basil.
In addition, to bring out the savory notes, mix in 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder.
Moreover, a touch of sugar (1/2 teaspoon) helps balance the acidity of the tomato paste.
Also, don’t forget 1/2 teaspoon of salt to enhance all the flavors.
Finally, finish it off with 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper for a bit of heat.

Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl; mix well.
- Set aside about 15 minutes for flavors to develop.
VARIATION: To make Parmesan Pizza Sauce, prepare recipe as directed, except stir in 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
TIP: To develop a richer, sweet tomato flavor, heat 1 Tbsp. olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add tomato paste and cook, stirring constantly, about 1 to 2 minutes, until pastebrowns slightly. Remove from heat and use paste as directed in the recipe.
NOTE: Recipe can be doubled using a 12 oz. can of tomato paste or two 6 oz. cans.
