Tomato paste production in Iran plays a significant role in the global market. In 1395, Iran achieved a production capacity of 1.3 million tons and, as a result, exported about 147,000 tons of tomato paste worth 203 million dollars. Notably, major importers include Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Furthermore, Iran’s tomato yield surpasses the global average, producing 38 tons per hectare compared to the world’s average of 27 tons. As a result, Iran ranks ninth globally in tomato paste exports, positioning it as one of the leading producers alongside China, India, Egypt, the United States, and Turkey.

Export of tomato paste in Iran
The biggest exporters, and therefore Iran’s most important competitors in the export sector, include Italy, China, the United States, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey. Moreover, Azerbaijan is one of the key consumers of Iranian tomato paste. In fact, Iran exports its tomato paste to Azerbaijan through border markets.
The global consumption of tomatoes is primarily in the form of tomato paste, not fresh. Tomato paste is a key ingredient in products like ketchup and sauces. These products are combined with spices, salt, sugar, vinegar, and hydrocolloids to create new varieties. They are then packaged for high consumption.

Problems of exporters:
-
High price
-
Increase in the price of product raw materials
-
Shipping and customs fees
Although Iran is one of the largest exporters of tomato paste after Turkey in the region, but in terms of the quality of tomato paste, Iran is higher than Turkey and this is a great honor.
